Passports and Visas - Visitors must show passports, and in some cases visas, with the same rules applying to children. Anyone arriving from a Western country can usually bypass the health clearance, but you will need to stop at immigration and submit proof of citizenship and show return tickets. Hang on to the immigration card, it's required for departure and you can only stay up to six months.

Pets - Only animals born and bred in the United Kingdom are allowed entry.
Customs - There's a queue for those with one piece of luggage, so those who travel light can get through quickly with a completed declaration card. Otherwise, prepare for a line and a brief but thorough luggage inspection. No flowers, plants, fruit, vegetables, honey, coffee, meats, weapons, explosives or dangerous drugs may be brought into the country. What you can take out of the country can be complicated. General guidelines for US citizens is up to $600 worth of duty-free goods after a 48 hour stay.
