Getting Around Jamaica

By Air - Your international flight will arrive in Kingston or Montego Bay. Air Jamaica Express runs flights out of both airports to Negril, Ocho Rios, St Margaret's Bay for Port Antonio and Tinson Pen in Kingston. Air Negril runs hourly trips from Montego Bay to Negril, and also flies between Negril and Ocho Rios.

Hotel Shuttles - Couples, Half Moon, Holiday Inn, Ritz Carlton, Sandals, Sans Souci and Super Clubs all have shuttle / transfer arrangements with tour companies at the airport.

By Car - Rentals cars are available on the island. Be advised that driving in Jamaica is dangerous. Daredevil drivers, pedestrians and animals all share the roads and hazards such as potholes, confusing roundabouts, and ill-defined roads all contribute to poor driving conditions. Don't be surprised if you meet oncoming cars with no lights! If you choose to drive, exercise extreme caution and drive defensively; use your horn liberally, especially as you approach blind corners.

Taxi - You can travel by taxi anywhere on the island, even all the way across it. There are legal cabs that have red PVV plates, including "route taxis" which accept multiple passengers. Anyone else offering a ride is a private individual. Your hotel can assist you with finding a safe ride. Regardless, you should agree to a price before setting out.

Bus - Mini-buses are available, although, they rarely keep to a schedule, tend to be crowded and make for a wild ride. These are not recommended unless it's through a resort.
