KingstonKingston, Jamaica is the political and cultural mecca of this Carribean Island. Located on the southeast corner, it is accessable via the Norman Manley International Airport, bus or car. The pace here is fast and furious compared to the rest of Jamaica, with an estimated one million people and growing. On the waterfront, urban restoration has begun as people have moved out of the downtown area. The Central Bank and the Jamaica Conference Center have their homes here, as does the National Gallery and Coin and Note Museum. There are many historic buildings in this city including Headquarters House, the Institutue of Jamaica, Gleaner Building and Holy Trinity Cathedral.
